Odd Future Wolf Gang, Kill Them All, or OFWGKTA, are an American hip-hop collective with roughly thirteen active members as of today (Tyler, the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, HodgyBeats, Taco Bennett, Syd tha Kyd, Mike G, L-Boy, Left Brain, Jasper Dolphin, Lucas Vercetti, Domo Genesis, Hal Williams and Frank Ocean.)
While not as mainstream as artists such as Eminem, Big Sean, Lil Wayne or Tyga, OFWGKTA have a VERY strong following, the majority of their fanbase willing to defend them to their deaths. It has been proved many a time that each member of this collective- except for Jasper, who himself has even said he has no talent- are very good at what they do. From Tyler, the creative man with a colourful vocabulary, to Syd, Taco's older sister and only female member of Odd Future, every member is his or her own character, and they all have (somewhat) great ways of dealing with each other.
Personally, Tyler is my favourite member of the group, who's clever lyrics and passion for what he does sparked my own passion for rapping and songwriting. So while on the Internet one day, I decided to look for facts about my idol- so, here we are.
1.Tyler's real name is Tyler Gregory Okonma. He was born on March 6, 1991 to a Nigerian father and an African American/White Canadian mother.
2.Tyler had big dreams of fame when he was 7, and would create his own album art for imaginary albums- and would even write song titles and tracklists!
3.Tyler has always been a creative master, and was in a gifted program in school- I'm not sure what school, as he attended 12 schools in his 12 school years.
4.While Tyler disses many artists in his songs, he never takes to it physically. What not many know, is that his hate rhymes are projected towards artists he likes.
5.Tyler is a severe asthmatic.
6.Evident by Odd Future's strong cat theme, Tyler absolutely loves cats, and would never assault or kill one. He is highly allergic to dogs, however.
While Tyler is my favourite member alone, I would DEFINITELY recommend listening to their music. A good song to start with if you're new to Odd Future is Oldie- the beat is consistent, not too fast or slow, the lyrics are clever, and ALMOST everyone get's a turn on the mic.
I really, really, REALLY love Odd Future, and I hope some of you will check their music out!
